International Boat Show of Barcelona
From the 14th to the 18th of October, the Port Vell is the place to be for sailing lovers. The Salón Nautico Internacional de Barcelona, in other words the International Boat Show of Barcelona, is the biggest of its kind in Spain, and the only one approved by the International Federation of Boat Show Organisers.
The city council awarded it a gold medal for sporting merit as it puts the city on an international stage.
Sea baptisms, fly boards shows, traditional sailing, stand up paddling, conferences, exhibitions… Children or grown-ups, to promote sailing, the International Boat Show of Barcelona has great activities for everyone.
Welcome to the International Boat Show of Barcelona
Espai del Mar, traditional sailing zone, and Fun Beach, three areas for three kind of activities.
To learn about sailing, have the latest news, or watch prize giving ceremonies, you are invited in the Espai del Mar.
However, if you are a lover of wooden boats from decades and centuries ago, the traditional sailing area was made for you. There you can watch boat restoring demonstrations, and workshops, including one organized by Joan Santolaria on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his sailing boat, the Raphael. It is one of the few sailing boats that use only the force of the wind to ride the waves.
Finally, if you want to ride the waves yourself, head for the Fun Beach area where you can try different water sports like stand up paddle, surfing, kayaking, or take towable boats with guides to tell you about the sailing world.
When the day is over, the Boat Show is not. During the night, a whole new world of activities appears. You can either take part in the Swimnight and Kayak race, a two laps 2500 meters circuit in which you will be kayaking and swimming in pair, or if you need to take a rest from the big day you have had, you can enjoy live music and watch performances.
Restoration
Between two exhausting activities, you can take a break at the One Ocean Club, the official restaurant of the show, which proposes every day a different meal for 35 euros. Both visitors and exhibitors are welcome to enjoy the food and the view of the port.
